Lesson 1The Light and the Dark of itNote: This page is courtesy of Master Hawk, from the original Master Dion Starkiller, unless otherwise indicated. From the Jedi Code.....
There is no Emotion, there is Peace.
There is no Ignorance, there is Knowledge. There is no Passion, there is serenity. There is no Death, there is the Force. --(taken from Star Wars: Outlander) A Jedi must never uses the force for attack, only for defense. Fear... Anger... Hate, these emotions can push us toward the Dark side of the Force. The Force can only be used to defend oneself or others but never to attack. To attack is to give in to the Dark side of the Force, and once you start down that path, forever will it dominate you destiny. Fear, A Jedi fears nothing, no being, no situation. Fear is an ally of the Dark side. Once fear has clouded your judgment or caused you to doubt in yourself and your abilities, then you must step away from the situation and reevaluate. Most fear is spawned from death, remember.... for a Jedi there is no death, there is the Force.... and a powerful ally it is, more powerful than fear. Anger and Hate, A Jedi never is to become angry with a situation they are involved in, this can also impair your judgment. Always remain passive, focused on the now. Only by listening to the living Force will a solution present itself. A Jedi who relies on Hate or Anger is sure to fail.... and then give into fear. The Definition of a "Light Side" Jedi. A Light Side Jedi is a being with Force abilities that strives to use their knowledge, strength and power to benefit all. A Jedi always tries to achieve reconciliation, unity and a beneficial compromise between all parties that they may meet. But remember, only through positive uses of the Force, does one achieve positive reaction. Any action, that strays toward the Dark side of the Force, no matter how well intentioned or successful, is doomed to failure eventually, as it will compromise the Jedi's integrity. Remember, the quick and easy path is often that of the Dark side. This can be a golden rule when faced with a choice over a course of action. This also means that the general affairs of your life should also be governed in such a manner. Being a Jedi means always doing your best, it means being honest in the way that you conduct your relationships and your life. A Jedi can dramatically impact their life and the lives of others, simply by living by the Jedi code and setting an example to others. Remember, always look for a positive solution for and situation. It is better to create than to destroy... better to nurture than to destroy. There are other Force users in the galaxy. The major difference between Light Side Jedi and the other Force users is the methods that we apply in order to achieve a goal and the way we feel about all life. Those that fall to the Dark side argue that our strict code of conduct makes our use of the force limited.... there may be some truth to this, however this but also makes our Force abilities the most controlled. I ask you now, which is stronger? Raw power... or ability to make precise and swift actions to disable a situation? Use the Force wisely my young Padawans and it will be with you, Always.
