The Training Process
Note: most of the Ranks on this page, and the first 6 lesson pages are courtesy of Master Hawk.
Although the learning is often done in small classes, the actual training is done individually... one on one basis. This
allows the full, undivided attention and patience that the Jedi need to succeed. Look to the left as there are some lessons
(more will follow in time).
Jedi Ranks
- Jedi Padawan
- These are the apprentice Jedi, those who are learning the ways of the Force. They never tread the Jedi walk alone,
but instead are partnered with a Jedi Knight or Master. Although they typically start young, there are few cases
where an older person has been allowed to begin training as a Padawan.
- Jedi Knight
- These are the Jedi that have proved themselves capable in handling the Force and themselves, and thus have
attained the higher rank. The Knight is now allowed to take on a Padawan of his/her own, although they may also
work alone.
Jedi Reserve
- A Jedi Reserve is similar to a Jedi Knight except that a Jedi Reserve has been called away from the rest of the Jedi
Order for personal reasons. A Jedi Reserve is not allowed to train a Padawan, but should the Force require it (and
if the Jedi Order requires it), a Jedi Reserve must answer the call, and will be re-instated as a Jedi Knight.
- Jedi Master
- A Jedi Knight that has proved him/herself extremly skilled at controlling the Force and their emotions may advance
to the rank of Jedi Master. Being able to control their emotions does not mean they become unfeeling, it means they
do not give in to such dark feelings as anger, fear, impatience, even jealousy. Although these Masters may have
Padawans under them, they are more than capable of using their refined combat and Force skills to fight alone.
Only a Jedi Master may sit on the Jedi Council (See below).
Jedi Spirit
- A Jedi Spirit is Jedi who has unfortunately suffer the casuality of death. However, not all Jedi become Spirits--it
takes a lot of understanding of the Force for a Jedi to become One with the Force. A Jedi Knight or Master, pre-knowing
their death, may focus on the Force intensely to become One with the Force upon the time of death. Once a Jedi is in a spirit form, he or
she may be able to limited conversations with other Jedi or Force-users and/or may be able to show their presence,
but cannot aid physically to any battle or confrontation, or serve on the Council. Much is still unknown about
the expectancy of a Jedi Spirit or other functions a Jedi Spirit can do.
The Jedi Council
The Jedi Council consists of 12 members: 5 are permanent members, 4 have a long-term service, and 3 have a limited term,
all of which are Jedi Members. The Jedi Council is designed to bring a balance in that it combines the permanence with the
constant change.
